3W News

Did You Know?
  • Sunday will be a solar eclipse called "ring of fire". This is when the sun is eclipsed by the moon. It is called an annular eclipse and the last one was in 1994.
  • Only states west of the Mississippi will be able to view it. It actually begins in Asia on the morning of May 21 when it will be visible in southern Japan and southern China. Please find time to check the web for photos of this with your child. We talked about it during class and it fits into our unit on the solar system.
  • ALSO- Today the first of its kind of commercially owned rocket call Falcon 9 was launched at Cape Canaveral headed for the International Space Station to deliver cargo. Two NASA ships which have been docked in Portsmouth, NH and now are in the North Atlantic will be taking high-definition video and thermal imagery of Falcon 9 and its Dragon capsule climbing through the atmosphere en route to the ISS. These two ships will then return to Portsmouth to transfer this data back to NASA officials. Kind of a cool connection for us!
  • Your child is researching a planet and will soon develop a game to teach other classmates about what they have learned.
